Eight Arrested in Major Turkish Celebrity Drug and Prostitution Probe
A high-profile investigation targeting Turkey’s entertainment and social media circles has taken a dramatic turn. On April 13, 2026, authorities confirmed that eight suspects have been arrested as part of a sweeping probe into drug trafficking and prostitution conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The crackdown has sent shockwaves through the pop-culture scene, particularly with the detention of well-known figures. Among those ordered to be held in custody are social media personality Elif Karaarslan and Cansel Ayanoğlu, who rose to fame on the reality series Kısmetse Olur. The arrests underscore the intensifying legal scrutiny surrounding the intersection of influencer culture and illegal activities.
According to court records, 19 suspects were initially referred to the courthouse. Following prosecutorial proceedings, 11 individuals were sent to the judge with requests for arrest, while requests for house arrest and judicial control were made for others. The court ultimately ordered the detention of eight individuals: Elif Karaarslan, Cansel Ayanoğlu, Mustafa Eyüp Çelik, Mehmet Can Çelik, Büşranur Çakır, Deniz Metin Yüksel, Ali Yaşar Koz, and Leha Ahsen Alkan.
Not everyone faced immediate imprisonment. Three suspects—Özlem Parlu, Gizem Melissa Alagöz, and Oğuz Sarpınar—were released under judicial control. This legal development follows a series of coordinated raids and detentions aimed at dismantling networks linked to prohibited substances within celebrity circles.
As the investigation unfolds, the industry continues to grapple with the fallout of these charges. The case highlights the precarious nature of fame in the digital age, where the private lives of public figures are increasingly subject to rigorous legal oversight.
