Police in Norway are investigating two deaths on the island of Karmøy as a double homicide, authorities said Saturday.
Officers responded to a report of a deceased individual at a housing complex in Kopervik on Saturday morning.
“During a search of the area, a second deceased person was discovered inside a nearby residence shortly before 1:00 p.m.,” said Police Attorney Fredrik Martin Soma in a statement.

Investigating as Homicide
Police confirmed Saturday that the deaths are being treated as a double homicide.
“Police are investigating this as two homicides, and we are considering these incidents to be connected,” Soma stated. “I do not wish to provide further details at this time.”
Authorities have not yet released information about the identities of the two individuals.
“Police have secured evidence at the scene and are conducting witness interviews,” officials said.
Police on site said there is no current danger to the public.
“We have not apprehended any suspects yet, but we do not believe there is a risk to the population,” said Incident Commander Hans Christian Dahl to Haugesunds Avis.
He declined to elaborate on what officers encountered at the residences.

No Suspects Identified
Police are pursuing all available resources in the investigation.
“Our main priority now is to locate and apprehend one or more suspects,” Soma said.

Crisis Team Convened
The mayor of Karmøy, Leiv Arne Marhaug, told Nettavisen that the municipality is convening a crisis team.
“We are aware of the incident that has occurred. That is all I can say at this time,” he told Nettavisen.
The municipality will now decide whether to establish a crisis headquarters.
