The campaign was launched under the direction of Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Supreme Chairperson and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the UAE Food Bank, and wife of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. The UAE Food Bank is part of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI).

The effort will be carried out through five Ramadan initiatives: Charity Fridge, My Home Without Waste, Meer Al Khair, Sabeel Iftar, and Recycle-Re-Life. The UAE Food Bank will collaborate with the public and private sectors to collect surplus food, aiming to reduce food waste and promote environmental sustainability. This initiative aligns with the UAE National Food Security Strategy 2051.

“The campaign aims to continue the bank’s humanitarian mission,” said Manal bin Yaroof, Executive Team Head of the UAE Food Bank. “We are striving to strengthen humanitarian and charitable function and to spread goodness around the world, in line with the leadership’s vision.”

The Charity Fridge initiative, implemented in collaboration with the Dubai Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), will see refrigerators placed in residential areas to encourage individuals and organizations to donate leftover meals from Iftar and Suhoor. The ‘My Home Without Waste’ initiative will focus on reducing daily food waste and promoting responsible consumption habits.

‘Meer Al Khair’ is designed to support underprivileged groups, while ‘Sabeel Iftar’ will be organized for workers in Sabeel Park. The ‘Recycle, Re-Life’ initiative aims to encourage the community to use surplus food efficiently. The announcement comes as food security concerns continue to grow globally, and the UAE seeks to position itself as a leader in humanitarian aid and sustainable practices.

The UAE Food Bank will similarly focus on strengthening the values of charity and reducing food waste, contributing to global efforts to combat hunger.
