The United Arab Emirates intercepted and destroyed multiple ballistic missiles and drones launched from Iran on Sunday, March 7, 2026, according to the country’s Ministry of Defense. The attacks underscore ongoing tensions in the region and raise concerns about escalating conflict.

The UAE’s defense systems engaged with the incoming threats, intercepting six ballistic missiles and destroying numerous drones, officials stated. One missile reportedly landed within the country’s borders. The sounds heard across various areas of the UAE were a result of the interception efforts by both ballistic missile defense systems and fighter jets, the Ministry of Defense confirmed.

Since the start of what officials are calling “open Iranian aggression,” the UAE has tracked a total of 205 ballistic missiles, successfully destroying 190 of them. Thirteen missiles fell into the sea, and two impacted within the country, according to reports.

The Ministry of Defense announced that its air defenses were responding to missile and drone threats originating from Iran. Early reports indicated debris from an intercepted object fell near Dubai International Airport, but no injuries were reported.

The UAE has reportedly thwarted hundreds of Iranian attacks, demonstrating its commitment to defending its territory. The latest incident highlights the increasing frequency of such events and the challenges facing regional security.

Further details suggest the UAE is seeking to reinforce its image as a safe and secure nation amidst ongoing regional instability.
