LONDON — More than 13,000 U.S. Citizens are among a significant number of foreign nationals serving in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), according to newly released data. The figures, obtained through Freedom of Information requests, highlight the international composition of the Israeli military during the conflict in Gaza.

The data reveals that 2,069 citizens of the United Kingdom are currently serving in the IDF. This includes 1,686 individuals holding dual British-Israeli citizenship and an additional 383 who possess British, Israeli, and at least one other citizenship.

Beyond the UK, the IDF includes a substantial contingent of foreign nationals. A total of 47,107 soldiers hold citizenship in Israel alongside at least one other country. This figure is comprised of 43,194 dual citizens and 3,913 individuals with multiple citizenships.

The largest group of foreign nationals serving in the IDF comes from the United States, with 12,135 dual U.S.-Israeli citizens and 1,207 U.S. Citizens holding multiple nationalities – a combined total of 13,342 Americans. France follows with 6,127 dual citizens and 337 multinational citizens, totaling 6,464 French nationals.

Significant numbers also come from Russia (5,067), Germany (3,901), Ukraine (3,210), Romania (1,675), and Poland (1,668). The presence of foreign fighters within the IDF underscores the complex international dimensions of the ongoing conflict.
