Following a third round of trilateral talks between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia held in Geneva on Tuesday and Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced some progress had been made on military issues.

The talks were conducted in thematic groups, one focused on political matters and the other on military questions.

Speaking to journalists after discussions with the Ukrainian delegation, Zelenskyy stated that the discussions within the military group were constructive, while no progress was achieved on political issues, and disagreements between the parties remained. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine continues to draw international attention as diplomatic efforts attempt to de-escalate the situation.

Participants in the talks substantively agreed on the technical aspects of a ceasefire, but political decisions are still needed for its implementation.

Zelenskyy also informed reporters that the United States would definitely participate in monitoring compliance with the ceasefire regime.

However, several political questions remain unresolved, including the future of the Donbas region and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
