Ukraine’s Top General Reports Russia’s Continued Offensive Despite Losses

Despite significant losses, Russia continues to press its offensive in Ukraine, with over 710,000 troops now concentrated within the country, according to Ukraine’s Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrsky. The ongoing fighting is described as “complicated,” as Russian forces maintain attacks in the northeastern and eastern sectors.

Syrsky stated on Telegram that the Kremlin has deployed approximately 710,000 troops for its latest winter offensive. Despite these numbers and continued attempts to advance, Russian forces have not achieved significant operational successes. “Despite significant losses, the Russian army continues to attempt offensive actions, although it has not achieved significant operational successes,” Syrsky said, according to reports.

Ukrainian forces have reportedly been able to liberate some territory taken by Russian forces, including pushing back occupiers from the city of Kupyansk and regaining control of almost 90 percent of the city. This comes after a Tuesday video conference involving senior Ukrainian officials and allies at the 33rd Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting, also known as the “Ramstein” group, which coordinates foreign military aid to Ukraine.

The Ukrainian military leader briefed allies on the difficult fighting conditions. Recent reports suggest that Russia’s losses have surpassed its recruitment capabilities. The ongoing conflict underscores the continued strain on both sides as the war enters its third year, with implications for regional stability and international security.

there are indications that Russia may be considering mandatory conscription to bolster its forces, as President Vladimir Putin reportedly believes the Kremlin is winning the war. Kyiv is also planning to establish a new branch of Ukraine’s Armed Forces dedicated to protecting critical infrastructure as part of broader air defense efforts.
