Google is offering expanded cloud storage and access to its artificial intelligence capabilities through its Google One subscription service. The service, launched in May 2018, replaced previous paid Google Drive options and now integrates benefits across multiple Google services.
Several subscription tiers are available, ranging from 100 GB to 30 TB of storage. A 30 GB “Lite” plan is as well available in some countries, including India. These plans build upon the 15 GB of free storage already provided with every Google Account, shared across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos.
The Basic plan, priced at $2 per month or $20 per year, provides 100 GB of storage for up to five family members. A Standard plan offers 200 GB for $3 per month, and includes 3 percent back on purchases from the Google Store. The Premium plan, at $10 per month or $100 annually, provides 2 TB of storage, unlimited Magic Editor saves in Google Photos, and 10 percent back on Google Store purchases, as well as Google Workspace premium features.
For users seeking enhanced AI features, the AI Pro plan is available for $20 per month. This tier includes all the benefits of the Premium plan, plus access to Google’s Gemini Pro, Flow Pro, Whisk Pro, 1,000 AI Credits, NotebookLM Pro, and Gemini integration within Gmail, Docs, and Vids, along with Google Home Premium Standard. The availability of these AI features underscores the growing integration of artificial intelligence into everyday digital tools.
As of May 2025, Google One has over 150 million subscribers. The service allows users to share their storage with up to five family members, ensuring each person has private access to their own content. Google discontinued its VPN service for Google One users on 2 TB plans or higher on June 20, 2024.
The Google One app has been downloaded over one billion times on Android as of January 2023. Previously, the Magic Eraser editing feature in Google Photos was exclusive to Pixel 6 and 7 owners, but is now available to all Google One users. These updates demonstrate Google’s continued development and expansion of features within the Google One ecosystem.
