Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has responded to statements made by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio justifying large-scale attacks against Teheran. Araghchi asserted that Rubio “admitted” Washington entered the war “on behalf of Israel.”
Araghchi, as reported by Al Jazeera and Anadolu Agency on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, also stated that the loss of American and Iranian lives is the responsibility of “supporters of Israel” as fighting continues between Teheran, Washington, and Tel Aviv.
“Rubio admitted what we all knew: the U.S. Has entered a war of choice on behalf of Israel,” Araghchi said in a statement via social media platform X on Tuesday, March 3.

“There has never been a so-called ‘Iranian threat’,” he added.
“The bloodshed of Americans and Iranians is the responsibility of the supporters of Israel. The American people deserve better and must reclaim their country,” Araghchi stated.
Araghchi used the term “Israel Firster” in his statement, referring to a pejorative term used to describe individuals, often U.S. Politicians or policymakers, accused of prioritizing Israeli interests over their own nation’s.
Rubio had previously stated that the U.S. Attacked Iran only after learning that its close ally, Israel, was planning strikes and fearing Teheran would retaliate by targeting U.S. Military forces in the region.
“We knew there was going to be Israeli action. We knew that was going to trigger attacks against American forces, and we knew if we didn’t strike them first before they launched that attack, we were going to suffer more casualties,” Rubio said, according to AFP.
U.S. Representative Joaquin Castro, a Democrat, criticized Rubio’s comments, stating they showed Israel “put U.S. Forces in harm’s way by insisting on attacking Iran.”
Iranian authorities report that at least 555 people have been killed as a result of the U.S.-Israeli offensive. Teheran also claims at least 560 U.S. Soldiers have been killed or wounded in their retaliatory strikes.
The U.S. Has so far confirmed the deaths of at least four of its soldiers as a result of Iran’s counterattacks.
