US-Iran War Risk: Troops Massed, Conflict Imminent?

Escalating tensions in the Middle East have reached a critical point, with the United States rapidly deploying military assets in anticipation of a potential conflict with Iran. The moves come as negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program remain stalled and as both Washington and Tehran issue increasingly strong warnings. This development underscores growing regional instability and raises concerns about a wider conflict.

Over fifty fighter jets, including F-35s and F-16s, accompanied by a significant number of refueling aircraft, were dispatched to the region within the last 24 hours, according to reports. Military analysts suggest this concentration of forces indicates preparations for a large-scale air campaign against Iran.

A source within the U.S. Administration estimates there is now a “90 percent chance” of a conflict erupting in the coming weeks. A former Israeli intelligence chief reportedly went even further, suggesting strikes could occur “in the next few days.” The objective of the deployment is believed to be neutralizing Iranian air defenses to pave the way for more substantial strikes targeting the regime’s core infrastructure.

According to one expert, the deployed fighter jets are intended to “kick down the door” by destroying Iran’s anti-aircraft systems. Once a corridor is established, strategic bombers – including stealth B-2s and potentially B-52s – which previously struck the regime in June 2025, could be deployed. Israeli aircraft may also participate in any potential operations.

Strait of Hormuz Partially Closed

In addition to the influx of U.S. Aircraft and assets from regional American bases, the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln is already positioned in the Arabian Sea, while the Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group is heading towards the eastern Mediterranean. Analysts suggest the simultaneous presence of two carrier groups would allow the U.S. To sustain several hundred airstrikes daily for weeks.

Donald Trump is exerting maximum pressure on the Iranian government while new discussions regarding Iran’s nuclear program take place in Geneva. However, as occurred last year, military preparations are proceeding in parallel with diplomatic efforts. U.S. Vice President JD Vance recently accused Tehran of refusing to acknowledge the “red lines” established by Trump.

In response, Iran has closed a portion of the Strait of Hormuz to conduct naval exercises, a move unprecedented since the 1980s. Joint maneuvers with Russia are also planned in the Gulf of Oman. The announcement could influence future diplomatic talks and further complicate the already tense situation.
