Escalating military action alongside renewed diplomatic efforts mark the fourth week of the widening conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran. The situation highlights the precarious balance between potential de-escalation and further regional instability.
Fighting remains intense on the ground. A modern rocket attack by Iran targeted Tel Aviv, reportedly wounding at least six people, according to Israeli media. This strike came hours after U.S. President Donald Trump stated that “very good” negotiations were underway to end the war – a claim Tehran swiftly denied. Simultaneously, Washington extended a 48-hour ultimatum for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which had threatened strikes against Iranian energy infrastructure.
Israel continues its offensive against both Iran and allied groups in the region. Attacks were reported in the southern suburbs of Beirut, a stronghold of Hezbollah, resulting in casualties. Israeli forces also announced “large-scale” strikes within Tehran itself, targeting key facilities of the Revolutionary Guard.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also stated that the global energy situation is “critical” and requires immediate talks.
However, messages from Tehran remain firm. The Revolutionary Guard dismissed Trump’s statements as a “psychological operation,” while Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf labeled them “fake news” intended to manipulate financial and oil markets.
Information leaking from Washington suggests a partial pause in strikes – but only targeting energy facilities and for a limited period of five days, indicating an attempt to balance military pressure with a potential diplomatic opening.
Western military presence in the region is also increasing. The United Kingdom dispatched the destroyer HMS Dragon to the eastern Mediterranean following an Iranian drone strike on a British base in Cyprus. The move came after calls for action, as France and Greece had already bolstered their presence around the island.
The economic consequences of the conflict are already being felt in Europe. Slovenia became the first EU country to introduce a rationing system for fuel due to disruptions in supplies linked to the war and tensions in the Persian Gulf.
The situation remains dynamic and unstable, with simultaneous indications of possible negotiations and a real risk of wider regional escalation.
