An employee of a vehicle concession group is negotiating a sentence in connection with providing license plate information to a drug kingpin known as “Gino.”
The individual, a former employee of Gino Spa – a dealership group that sells Mercedes-Benz, Smart, BMW, MINI, and Volvo vehicles – reportedly accessed and shared vehicle registration data with the drug trafficker. Gino Spa operates locations in Cuneo, Rivoli, La Spezia, Asti, and Livorno.
Instead of imprisonment, the employee is seeking a work assignment as part of their sentence. The case underscores the potential for abuse of access to sensitive personal data.
Authorities have been investigating the drug operation led by “Gino,” and the employee’s cooperation has become a key element in the proceedings. Gino Spa’s Luxury & Motorsport division offers high-finish vehicles from brands like Mercedes, BMW, Lotus, and Maserati.
The employee’s actions allowed the drug kingpin to potentially evade law enforcement and continue illicit activities. Gino Store as well offers used and zero-kilometer vehicles.
