The historic clock tower in Vauvert, France, is undergoing enhancements to both its accessibility and visual appeal, with a new lighting scheme planned for the near future. These improvements build upon recent renovations to Place Gambetta and the tower itself, all aimed at enriching the community’s environment and preserving its cultural heritage.
Preparations for the illumination are underway with the installation of projectors. Four specialized lenses have been commissioned to allow for dynamic displays, projecting patterns, illustrations, and messages onto the tower’s facade depending on the season or special events. The installation is designed to be discreet, with two projectors mounted on existing public lighting supports on Place Gambetta and Rue Posquière, minimizing impact on the urban landscape.
In the meantime, the local tourism office, Cœur de Camargue, is offering 45-minute express tours of the tower, providing visitors with a glimpse into its history. These tours explore the tower’s small, historically significant holding cell, marked with poignant writings from former prisoners, and culminate in an ascent to the top for panoramic views of Vauvert’s old town center.
