Four people died Tuesday in Vienna, Austria, after a portion of scaffolding collapsed during construction work. One individual sustained critical injuries, according to reports from the Austrian Press Agency (APA).

The incident occurred on Porzellangasse street in the Alsergrund district, the ninth district of Vienna, during concrete work related to an attic renovation. At approximately 2:30 PM local time, a section of scaffolding, formwork, and large pieces of concrete fell into a courtyard of an traditional, renovated building.

Five people were on that section of the scaffolding at the time of the collapse. After approximately 90 minutes, rescue workers located a severely injured 45-year-old man with serious head and spinal injuries, as well as broken arms. Authorities later confirmed that four additional workers had died as a result of the accident.
