Vietnam’s richest man, Phạm Nhật Vượng, is making a significant push into the automotive sector, expanding beyond his conglomerate VinGroup’s existing portfolio of shopping centers and universities.
The company announced it will segment its offerings into three distinct lines. The existing VF series will continue to serve the general consumer market, while the Green line is designed to appeal to environmentally conscious fleet operators. Yet, the most significant development is the launch of Lac Hong, a novel luxury sub-brand.
The Lac Hong series, which the manufacturer says embodies the nation’s courage and prestige, will debut with two models: the 800 S and the 900 S. Interiors will feature nappa leather and wood trim, and the 900 S sedan will offer an optional television screen large enough to serve as a focal point in a studio apartment.

Powering the vehicles will be a three-motor system delivering a combined 617 horsepower. The strategy is clear: VinFast is initially targeting affluent domestic consumers who prioritize national pride and comfort over the branding of German or Chinese luxury imports.
