“If you are looking for a serious, ethical and human-centered clinic that prioritizes your safety above all else, Vision Future is an obvious choice. A huge thank you to the entire team,” shares Alexia in a Google review.

“Perfect from A to Z! A team of professionals who listen and care for patients. Support from start to finish and a successful operation! I was very nearsighted and now I can notice perfectly without glasses, I’m living again 😊. I highly recommend this center with your eyes closed (after they’ve been corrected 😉),” adds Murielle.

Many dream of clear vision without glasses or contacts, but may not realize safe and accessible solutions exist. For over twenty years, Vision Future has specialized in refractive surgery, combining cutting-edge technology with personalized care.

Founded in the early 2000s, this specialized Lyon-based center is now part of a nationally recognized network. Nearly 5,000 procedures are performed annually, bringing the total number of operations to tens of thousands, helping patients regain clear vision and improved quality of life. This longevity is built on an experienced team, many of whom have been with the center for over a decade.

A Patient-Centered Approach

Even as laser vision correction relies on modern, state-of-the-art equipment, Vision Future emphasizes an organization built around the patient. “The lasers are of the latest generation with ultra-modern and precise treatments, but our priority remains the human element,” explains Marc-Hamilton De Oliveira, director of Vision Future Lyon. “Our mission is not only to correct vision, but to sustainably improve the daily lives of our patients.”

Every detail is designed to ensure a serene experience: team availability, clear explanations, a calming atmosphere, and even music therapy offered before the procedure.

A Thorough Pre-Operative Evaluation

Before any intervention, a comprehensive pre-operative evaluation is conducted to assess the feasibility of the operation, identify any contraindications, and determine the most appropriate technique for each patient profile. “We are particularly vigilant. The well-being and safety of patients reach first,” emphasizes Marc-Hamilton.

Nearsightedness, Farsightedness, Astigmatism, and Presbyopia: Targeted Corrections

Laser vision correction addresses a range of common vision problems. Nearsightedness, the most prevalent issue, causes blurry distance vision and is effectively corrected by Femtosecond Laser.

Farsightedness, caused by an eye that is too short, leads to blurry near vision and eye strain, and is also treated with refractive surgery.

Astigmatism, often occurring with other refractive errors, is corrected using laser techniques.

Finally, presbyopia, related to the natural aging of the lens, can be addressed with specific procedures like PresbyLasik or SupraCor.

A Quick and Painless Procedure

The operation is performed under local anesthesia with eye drops. Is it painful? Marc Hamilton, who underwent surgery for nearsightedness and astigmatism in 2012, can attest to the experience. “No, it doesn’t hurt at all. The only discomfort during the procedure is the inability to blink.” The laser treatment itself only lasts a few seconds, often between 8 and 10 seconds to be precise. What if the patient moves their eye during the procedure? “No need to worry, the lasers are equipped with tracking systems that can follow eye movements in real time.”

A slight gritty sensation may occur immediately after the procedure, but it disappears quickly, often within a few hours. Simply resting helps to quickly alleviate it. Improved vision is noticeable within minutes. The next day, vision is clear enough to resume a normal life — working, driving, or engaging in usual activities — by simply instilling a few eye drops throughout the day. The final result continues to refine and stabilize in three to four weeks. “It’s impressive! At first, you tend to look for your glasses, when you no longer need them.”

Ongoing Support

Patients receive constant support before, during, and after the procedure. During surgery, a team member remains at the patient’s side. Post-operative follow-up allows for monitoring of results and, if necessary, support during recovery.

“The welcome is excellent, the team is very professional. The explanations are clear and reassuring at every step, and the follow-up is impeccable,” says Lydie, a patient who underwent surgery in Lyon.

A Personal Choice, Guided and Considered

While there is no strict age limit for refractive surgery, stable vision and eye health remain key criteria. Laser vision correction does not, still, eliminate the need for regular ophthalmological check-ups.

Regarding cost, insurance companies often offer significant coverage, reducing out-of-pocket expenses. The investment may seem substantial but is often quickly offset by eliminating the costs associated with glasses and contact lenses, which can total several hundred euros each year.

At Vision Future Lyon, refractive surgery allows everyone to confidently rediscover the pleasure of seeing clearly.
