Hybrid vehicles are now the most popular choice among new car registrations in Vorarlberg, despite gasoline remaining the leading fuel type. A total of 2,724 vehicles have been newly registered in the region since the beginning of the year, with passenger cars making up the majority of these.
Through the start of 2026, 601 gasoline-powered passenger cars have been newly registered in Vorarlberg. Diesel registrations lag significantly behind at 344, while pure electric vehicles hold the second position with 442 registrations. However, gasoline-electric hybrid vehicles continue to lead the market, with 689 new registrations – mirroring the trend from the previous year.
When considering all fuel types, gasoline and diesel are closely matched, with 700 and 705 registrations respectively. As of February 28th, 232 diesel trucks (Class N1) and 12 trucks (Class N3) were registered, with no corresponding registrations for gasoline-powered trucks during the same period.
The trend in Vorarlberg is clearly shifting towards hybrid technology. A total of 828 hybrid vehicles were registered in the first two months of the year, with 694 powered by gasoline and 134 by diesel. This data suggests a growing consumer preference for fuel-efficient options.
Despite lingering snow, the motorcycle season has begun in Vorarlberg. 21 two-wheeled vehicles (Class L1e motorcycles) and 61 motorcycles under 50cc (Class L3e) have been registered. Nine electric motorcycles were registered: five in the L3e class and four in the L1e class.
