Budget airline Wizz Air is temporarily reverting to its previous pricing structure for its Wizz Discount Club membership program, offering savings of up to €20 per year.
The airline had increased the annual fee for the loyalty program from €39.99 to €59.99 less than a year ago. Now, Wizz Air is launching a special promotion to bring the price back down to the original €39.99, though the reduction is not permanent.
The Wizz Discount Club provides members with discounts on flights, baggage, onboard purchases, and other travel extras. Benefits include a €10 discount on fares starting at €29.99, a €5 discount on checked baggage or two carry-on bags purchased online, and priority customer service.
Members also have access to exclusive ticket promotions and personalized offers. The standard Wizz Discount Club membership covers benefits for the member and one travel companion, while a WIZZ Discount Club Standard Plus option extends benefits to up to five fellow travelers.
The move comes after a price hike last year sparked criticism from customers, with some feeling compelled to purchase the more expensive membership. According to reports, the airline initially increased the price by 20 euros, surprising many customers who had already purchased memberships at the lower rate. The airline’s decision to temporarily lower the price may be an effort to regain customer goodwill and boost membership sign-ups.
Wizz Air’s pricing adjustments reflect the ongoing competitive pressures within the European low-cost carrier market. The airline continues to offer various membership tiers, including options with premium seat selection and additional baggage allowances.
