Woman Dies After Air Conditioner Explosion in Belgium

Wervik, Belgium – A woman has died from her injuries after an explosion involving a mobile air conditioner in Wervik, West Flanders, on Wednesday, March 18, 2026. The incident underscores the potential dangers associated with household appliances.

Firefighters were called to a home on Diederik Geerbodelaan at 1:12 p.m. Local time after reports of a fire, which was determined to have been caused by the air conditioner’s explosion. The woman was transported to a hospital with critical injuries and remained in critical condition until her death on Friday, March 20, 2026, according to reports from La Libre.
