Monterrey – A woman was struck by a vehicle Monday afternoon on Avenida Paseo de los Leones in Monterrey. The incident highlights the challenges faced by authorities in responding to individuals experiencing mental health crises.

The woman’s parents were at the scene and informed authorities they had been searching for her, stating she suffers from a mental health disorder.

Emergency services responded to the intersection of Paseo de los Leones and Paseo de los Conquistadores in the Cumbres 3er Sector neighborhood around noon on February 9, after receiving reports of a female pedestrian injured in a collision.

According to preliminary information, a report of a disoriented woman in the area preceded the accident.

As of Monday afternoon, the woman’s identity and medical condition remained unknown.

Paramedics with the Red Cross provided on-site treatment before transporting her to a local hospital for further medical care.

Shortly after the arrival of emergency personnel, the woman’s parents arrived at the scene. They indicated they had been looking for her for some time, due to her reported mental health condition.

A video circulating on social media shows the woman running in the street lanes near a restaurant. The footage captures the moment she unexpectedly entered traffic, and was struck by a vehicle. The driver was unable to avoid the collision, and the woman was thrown forward several meters.

The video also appears to show a traffic officer running after the woman and attempting to warn drivers by waving his arms. He immediately provided assistance after the impact.
