PSV Coach Bosz Irritated by AZ Player Goes’ Conduct
PSV coach Peter Bosz expressed his frustration with AZ defender Wouter Goes following a series of incidents during their recent match. The incidents, involving Goes and PSV players Ivan Perisic and Ricardo Pepi, have drawn criticism from both coaches and analysts, adding another layer of intensity to the Eredivisie rivalry.
Bosz voiced his concerns about Goes’ behavior, stating, “I know not if he would have stayed on the field for so long in my time.” He alluded to a stricter approach taken by teams in the past, suggesting that such actions would have been dealt with more decisively. This comment highlights a shift in the game and a debate over acceptable conduct on the pitch.
The frustration stemmed from Goes going to ground excessively after a challenge from Ricardo Pepi, and appearing to feign injury while on the sideline. Bosz admitted to initial concern, saying, “I must say I was a little worried when he was lying here on the sideline,” but quickly added that it “turned out to be nothing.”
The coach acknowledged the difficulty for referees in assessing such situations. “This is very difficult for referees. I understand that he still whistles. Because what if he really has a concussion and thinks nothing is wrong? But you witness that it is sometimes misused.”
Ricardo Pepi received a yellow card during the duel with Goes, with the AZ defender attempting to influence the referee into issuing a red card. Bosz stated he didn’t have a clear view of the incident but added, “If it was with Goes? Then that’s solid. Yes, that boy is involved in it sometimes, isn’t he?”
ESPN analyst Arnold Bruggink also criticized Goes’ actions, adding to the growing chorus of disapproval. The match concluded with PSV securing a victory, but the focus quickly shifted to the controversial conduct of the AZ player. The win boosts PSV’s position in the league standings as they continue their pursuit of the championship.
