A key drawback of subscription-based video games has been limited overlap in player bases, as many gamers subscribe to only one or two services. However, that situation may soon change.

According to recent reports, Microsoft is planning to include subscription-based games within the Xbox Game Pass, potentially improving the value proposition of the 27 euro Ultimate tier.

Sources at The Verge indicate that monthly subscription titles such as World of Warcraft, Minecraft Realms, and Fallout 1st could be added to the Xbox Game Pass lineup. This addition could significantly increase the appeal of the subscription service, especially considering the individual monthly cost of World of Warcraft, which is around 15 euros. The move reflects the growing trend of bundling services to attract and retain subscribers.

The potential change likely comes in response to a price increase in October, which the company reported led to a 5 percent decrease in revenue from the service in its most recent quarterly report. By expanding the Game Pass library, Microsoft aims to offset this decline.
