One of last year’s standout titles, Xenoblade Chronicles X, has received a significant upgrade with its simultaneous release on the Nintendo Switch 2. Originally launched for the Wii U in 2015, the expansive role-playing game is now available to experience in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second on Nintendo’s latest console.

The announcement came via the Nintendo Today! app, quickly followed by confirmations across Nintendo’s social media channels. Players can now access the enhanced experience through a $4.99 upgrade pack available in the Nintendo eShop for those who already own the game on Nintendo Switch. Alternatively, a dedicated “Nintendo Switch 2 Edition” is available for direct digital purchase, or as a physical release slated for April 16.

The release of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition on the Switch 2 demonstrates Nintendo’s commitment to bringing its back catalog to novel platforms with improved performance. The game places players in the role of a customizable protagonist tasked with leading the BLADE unit to defend human survivors on the alien planet Mira. For those considering revisiting the world of Mira, a review of the game is available.
