Xiaomi has regained its position as the leading smartphone vendor in Southeast Asia after a four-year gap, even as the overall market experiences a slowdown. The company also achieved top rankings in the tablet and wearable band categories in Indonesia throughout 2025, according to recent reports from Omdia.

The Chinese technology firm’s success underscores its ability to deliver innovative and accessible technology to a broad consumer base. Xiaomi’s integrated product ecosystem has also been a key factor in meeting the evolving needs of digitally-focused lifestyles. This performance highlights the increasing importance of a connected device experience for consumers.

Wentao Zhao, Country Director of Xiaomi Indonesia, emphasized the importance of customer trust in the company’s growth. “Throughout 2025, Xiaomi continued to deliver premium technology experiences through flagship devices and the expansion of our AIoT ecosystem,” Zhao stated.

He further explained that today’s consumers are looking for more than just basic functionality, desiring attractive designs and seamless connectivity between devices.

Rapid Growth in the Tablet Market

Xiaomi demonstrated exceptional performance in the Indonesian tablet market, securing the number one position with a 36% market share. This represents a significant year-over-year increase of 75%, according to Omdia data.

The surge in demand reflects a growing need for versatile devices. Tablets are no longer solely entertainment tools but have evolved into practical productivity devices.

Xiaomi capitalized on this momentum by offering a diverse range of tablets catering to different user segments. Students can utilize tablets for flexible learning, while professionals benefit from increased mobile efficiency.

Tablets are also gaining traction as educational and interactive entertainment options for children, with their versatility being a key driver of market growth.

Strong Dominance in the Wearable Band Market

In addition to tablets, Xiaomi has established a strong presence in the wearable band market, both nationally and globally. In Indonesia, Xiaomi commands a 30% market share, a 3% increase year-over-year.

Globally, Xiaomi’s performance is even more impressive, reclaiming the number one position with an 18% market share, a 6% increase compared to the previous year. This marks the company’s return to the top of the global wearable band market since 2020.

Throughout 2025, Xiaomi shipped over 200 million wearable band units worldwide, demonstrating strong consumer interest in these devices.

This trend is fueled by increasing awareness of health and active lifestyles, with wearable bands becoming essential tools for monitoring vital health indicators like heart rate, sleep quality, and daily physical activity.

With increasingly comprehensive features and competitive pricing, Xiaomi has broadened its reach to a wider range of users.

Resilience Amidst Smartphone Market Challenges

Despite a generally slowing smartphone market in Indonesia throughout 2025, Xiaomi maintained a solid performance. Omdia reports that Xiaomi became the number one smartphone brand in Indonesia, capturing a 19% market share.

This achievement demonstrates Xiaomi’s resilience in navigating a challenging market landscape. A broad product portfolio strategy has been a key factor in this success.

Xiaomi effectively reaches diverse consumer segments, from entry-level to premium. The company also continues to strengthen its position in the flagship segment by introducing cutting-edge technologies.

A notable innovation is the collaboration with Leica to enhance smartphone camera technology, delivering more professional-quality photography on mobile devices.

Xiaomi has developed artificial intelligence capabilities through Xiaomi HyperAI, integrated into the Xiaomi HyperOS operating system, enabling a more intuitive user experience and seamless connectivity across the Xiaomi ecosystem.

Ecosystem Strategy as a Key Differentiator

Xiaomi’s success across these three device categories is rooted in its overarching strategy of integrating an AIoT-based ecosystem. Through its global vision of “Human x Car x Home,” Xiaomi aims to create interconnected technology experiences across various aspects of users’ lives.

This strategy allows users to control multiple devices within a single, integrated ecosystem, ranging from smartphones and tablets to wearable devices and smart home products.

With this approach, Xiaomi isn’t simply selling products; it’s offering a more modern, convenient, and efficient digital lifestyle.

Xiaomi’s dominance in the Indonesian market throughout 2025 demonstrates that a combination of innovation, competitive pricing, and a strong ecosystem can be a winning formula in the technology industry.

Looking ahead, Xiaomi is expected to continue expanding its influence as consumer demand grows for devices that are not only advanced but also seamlessly integrated into everyday life.
