Xiaomi is intensifying its push into the high-performance electric vehicle sector with the development of its new flagship SUV, the YU7 GT. The vehicle was recently spotted undergoing rigorous testing at the Nurburgring in Germany, signaling the company’s intent to compete directly with established European luxury marques on their own turf.

The YU7 GT is engineered for extreme performance, featuring a tri-motor layout capable of producing approximately 1,526bhp. This strategic expansion follows the groundwork laid by the groundbreaking SU7 Ultra, aiming to bring similar levels of extreme performance to a more family-oriented SUV body style.

From a design perspective, the YU7 GT draws visual comparisons to the Ferrari-style aesthetics and brutal power. The GT specification includes 21-inch wheels, wider and more aggressive wheelarches than the standard model, and a modified front end designed to optimize cooling for the high-output powertrain.

Technical specifications suggest the SUV will utilize a 93.7kWh battery, mirroring the capacity found in the SU7 saloon.
