Yeison Jiménez: Forensic Analysis Underway After Plane Crash in Boyacá

Colombian authorities are investigating a plane crash in the Boyacá department on Sunday, January 11th, that claimed the lives of six people, including popular singer Yeison Jiménez [[1], [2], [3]]. The aircraft went down between the towns of Paipa and Duitama, cutting short the career of the 34-year-old Jiménez, who was en route to a concert in Medellín[[[2], [3]]. Forensic teams in Bogotá are currently working to formally identify all victims following the arrival of the remains Sunday afternoon [[1]].

Colombian music star Yeison Jiménez was among the victims of a plane crash on Sunday, January 11th, authorities have confirmed. The accident occurred between the towns of Paipa and Duitama in the Boyacá department of Colombia, marking a tragic loss for the popular music scene.

The National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences reported that the bodies of those involved in the crash were received at its central headquarters in Bogotá around 2:00 PM local time on Sunday.

Initial examinations, including radiology, forensic odontology, and fingerprint analysis, began immediately. A full medical-legal autopsy is scheduled to continue on Monday, January 12th, with the goal of completing the identification process of all those on board.

Officials stated, “The technical and procedural information derived from these actions will be sent exclusively to the authority within the framework of the investigation.”

Who Was Onboard the Aircraft?

In addition to Jiménez, five other individuals were traveling on the aircraft. They have been identified as:

  • Hernando Torres, the pilot.
  • Weisman Mora.
  • Juan Manuel Rodríguez.
  • Oscar Marín.
  • Jefferson Osorio.

The bodies of the victims are expected to be released to their families on Monday afternoon, according to reports. A full list of the aircraft’s occupants has been released.
