Numerous users have reported hearing advertisements before and between tracks on Google Home and Nest devices despite being subscribers to YouTube Music Premium. Restarting the Home Hub has not resolved the issue, and the ads continue to play.
Reports also detail 30-second pauses between songs, tracks failing to load, or speakers falling silent before an ad begins. Some users say their normally personalized mixes have been replaced with random Top 40 tracks that don’t align with their listening history. One user stated they were unable to stream at all from their computer, while another reported ads playing immediately after a device reboot. One user noted that YouTube Music works flawlessly on phones and tablets, suggesting the problem is specific to Google Home.
The GoogleNestCommunity account responded, stating that Google is aware of an issue with YouTube Music playback on some Google Home devices and is investigating. The cause and extent of the problem remain unknown.
