The singer claims he’s never been in love.
Zayn Malik, 33, has sparked conversation with recent comments questioning whether he was ever truly in love—even with his former partner, Gigi Hadid, 30 and the mother of his child.
During an appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast with Alex Cooper, the former One Direction star addressed a previous statement he made about never having experienced love, as reported by TMZ.
“Because my understanding of love is always developing,” Malik explained. “At that moment in time, I might have thought it was love, but as I got older, I realized maybe it wasn’t. Maybe it was lust. Maybe it was this… maybe it was that… I don’t experience like it was love.”
Although, the singer was quick to add a heartfelt sentiment regarding Hadid:
“I will always love G because she is the reason my child is on this earth, and I have the utmost respect for her. I will always love her, but I don’t recognize if I ever was in love with her.”
The pair welcomed their daughter, Khai, in September 2020 and announced their split the following year.
Their breakup was marked by controversy, as Hadid’s mother, Yolanda, accused Malik of assault and harassment.
