MATCH FACTS
♦ This upcoming fixture marks the 96th top-flight meeting between these two historic rivals. Újpest holds a significant advantage in the head-to-head record, with 50 wins to ZTE’s 24, and 22 draws.

♦ The previous three matches between the sides have all resulted in different outcomes. Following a 0-0 draw in Egerszeg in May, the home team has won each subsequent league contest, most recently with ZTE securing a 2-0 victory at Újpest. Ábel Krajcsovics scored in that match, but has yet to identify the net for his new club after having three goals disallowed by VAR.

♦ The series is evenly matched when played in Zalaegerszeg, with each team claiming 15 wins and 16 draws. Újpest leads in goals scored in this rivalry with a tally of 64 to ZTE’s 70. Since their promotion in 2019, ZTE had won four consecutive home games against Újpest, but the last four encounters have seen alternating draws and Újpest victories. Újpest claimed a 4-1 win in August, their largest margin of victory in the current season, while ZTE suffered their heaviest defeat.

♦ ZTE extended their unbeaten run to six league matches with a 1-1 draw at Paksi, despite playing with ten men for almost the entire second half following a red card to Bence Várkonyi. Nuno Campos’ side is currently enjoying the longest such streak in the NB I.

♦ Újpest has won three of their last five league games – all at home – and lost only one. This form has seen them concede the fewest goals in the league (5), placing them third in the current standings.

♦ Zalaegerszeg boasts a 5-4-4 record and sits in the mid-table positions, having conceded the second-fewest goals at home (16).

♦ Újpest currently sits eighth in the away table with a 4-3-5 record, having only secured points in one of their three away matches in 2026 – a 1-1 draw at Nyíregyháza, achieved while playing with a man advantage from the 52nd minute.

♦ ZTE will be without defender Bence Várkonyi, who is serving a suspension following a red card last week.
