Poland’s Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) will automatically increase payments to its oldest pensioners and benefit recipients in 2026. The increase applies to a supplemental benefit, known as the care allowance, for individuals aged 75 and over. The benefit is awarded automatically, with funds appearing in recipients’ accounts alongside their pensions.

Individuals born in 1951 will become eligible for the allowance this year, and will not be required to submit an application. There is also no income criterion for eligibility. age is the sole determining factor, with payments beginning in the month of the recipient’s birthday.

Following the March 2026 pension revaluation, the standard care allowance will be 366.68 Polish złoty per month. A higher benefit of 550.02 złoty is available for war veterans recognized as totally disabled and unable to perform or live independently.

The allowance is also available to individuals with a certified total disability to work, as well as those who are deemed unable to care for themselves, regardless of age. However, in these cases, a medical assessment is required.

According to reports, the care allowance and the care benefit cannot be received simultaneously. The care benefit is a family allowance of 215 złoty, intended to partially cover the costs of caring for someone unable to live independently. This rate has not been adjusted since 2021.

A so-called “13th pension” of 1978.49 Polish złoty (gross) is scheduled to be deposited into pensioners’ accounts in April.
