Veteran Egyptian actor Mohamed Sobhy recently appeared on the “Al-Soora” program, hosted by Lamis Al-Hadidi on the “Al-Nahar” channel, to discuss a recent health scare.
Sobhy detailed his recent health challenges, explaining that he experienced a health episode about a month ago that recurred two weeks later. “I had this health issue a month ago, and it happened again after two weeks because of ‘stress,’ something that affects the brain and causes a kind of ‘blackout’ – a temporary loss of consciousness,” he said. “After that, I regain consciousness, but I don’t remember what happened before.”
Mohamed Sobhy’s Medical Diagnosis
Doctors diagnosed Sobhy with a virus in the brain that lasts for 14 days, and with full medical care, it won’t return, he explained. “I suffered during treatment, it was a harsh treatment, and I spent 13 days in the hospital.”
Sobhy Experienced Two Episodes
Regarding the recurrence of the health issue, Sobhy stated that the first time, he didn’t complete his treatment and didn’t follow the doctors’ instructions due to work commitments. He spent two days in the hospital the first week and three days the second, leading to the recent relapse. “That’s what made me finally adhere to the doctors’ instructions,” he added.
Sobhy recently underwent treatment in intensive care at a hospital before being moved to a regular room following a health crisis. The actor’s health updates are closely followed by fans across the Arab world, where he remains a beloved figure in Egyptian cinema and television.
Following his recovery, Sobhy expressed his gratitude to the Actors’ Syndicate for nominating him for the State Appreciation Award.
