Yu Darvish, a pitcher for the San Diego Padres and a two-time champion in the World Baseball Classic, will join Japan’s national baseball team, known as Samurai Japan, as an advisor for their spring training camp in Miyazaki, officials announced on February 12, 2026. This collaboration aims to leverage Darvish’s extensive experience to prepare the team for the upcoming 2026 World Baseball Classic.

Samurai Japan’s Miyazaki Spring Training Camp 2026 is scheduled to run from February 14th to February 24th, 2026, with scheduled rest days on February 16th and February 20th.
場所
The training camp will be held at Hinata Sunmarine Stadium Miyazaki.
While Darvish is expected to participate throughout the entire camp, adjustments to his schedule are possible.

“I had been considering how I could contribute in some capacity since discussing surgery with Manager Endo last October,” said Yu Darvish. “After careful consideration, I have decided to join the Miyazaki camp. I hope to share my experiences from past tournaments to facilitate the players approach the competition with confidence. I am grateful to Manager Endo and Samurai Japan for this opportunity.”
