Japan’s National Baseball Team Begins Training Camp
Preparations are underway for the World Baseball Classic as Japan’s national team, known as “Samurai Japan,” has commenced its spring training camp in Miyazaki. The camp began today, February 14, 2026, with several key players already in attendance.
Pitcher Yu Darvish is among those participating in the training camp, and he will also be leading instructional sessions for younger players. According to reports, Darvish immediately began working with Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters player, Kitayama, offering advice through demonstrations and gestures. He also provided guidance to the team’s catchers.
Four players from the SoftBank Hawks have been selected for the team and are participating in the pre-camp training. This initial phase of preparation aims to build team cohesion and refine skills before the start of the World Baseball Classic.
The Japan Baseball Federation has announced Darvish’s participation in the Miyazaki spring camp. This training period is a crucial step for the team as they aim to defend their title in the upcoming World Baseball Classic.
The team’s training will focus on both individual skill development and team strategy, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead. The camp provides an opportunity for players to connect and build camaraderie before representing Japan on the international stage.
