Hong Kong media outlet Sing Tao Daily confirmed the news with friends of the actor, who said the family is handling arrangements privately. A funeral service is scheduled to take place on September 26th in Longgang, Shenzhen.
Liang Xiaolong was a prominent figure in Hong Kong’s martial arts film scene during the 1970s, alongside Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, and Gordon Liu – a group often referred to as the “Four Dragons.” He gained further recognition in the early 1980s for his leading roles in the television series The Legend of Huo Yuanjia (1981) and Chen Zhen (1982), portraying the titular hero in the latter.
After stepping away from the entertainment industry in the mid-1980s to pursue business ventures in mainland China, Liang Xiaolong experienced a career resurgence in 2004 when Chow cast him as the villainous Fire Cloud Evil God in Kung Fu Hustle.
