Taiwanese restaurant chain Hsiu Ju Chuang will begin increasing prices on roughly 36% of its menu items starting Monday, January 12, following a similar decision by coffee chain Louisa. The price adjustments reflect a growing trend in Taiwan’s food service industry as businesses grapple with escalating costs for raw materials, labor, and increasingly, environmental compliance measures.Hsiu Ju Chuang maintains it absorbed rising expenses for an extended period, but price adjustments are now necessary to uphold quality and service standards.



Taiwanese restaurant chain Hsiu Ju Chuang is raising prices on select menu items starting Monday, January 12, following a similar move by the coffee chain Louisa. The price adjustments come as the food service industry grapples with rising costs for raw materials, labor, and environmental initiatives.


Hsiu Ju Chuang said the company had absorbed increasing costs and optimized operations for an extended period, but a price increase was necessary to maintain food quality, service standards, and employee welfare. The restaurant chain emphasized its commitment to food safety and quality, stating it will not reduce ingredient standards or simplify food handling processes despite the financial pressures.






A total of 48 items will see a price increase, representing approximately 36% of the chain’s menu. These include four different bento box options, two rice dishes, and one side dish. The average price increase across these items will be 3.8%. The majority of other products will remain at their current prices.


The price of the Tangshan Pork Chop Bento will increase from 125 NTD to 130 NTD, a 4% increase. The Crispy Chicken Leg Bento will rise from 135 NTD to 140 NTD, a 3.7% increase. Pork Rice Bento and Chicken Rice Bento will both increase from 85 NTD to 89 NTD, a 4.7% increase. A small portion of Braised Pork Rice will increase from 66 NTD to 71 NTD, a 7.6% increase, while the Nostalgic Braised Pork Rice will go from 122 NTD to 127 NTD, a 4% increase. A side of Tender Pork will increase from 33 NTD to 35 NTD, a 6% increase. Combination meals or add-ons containing these items will also reflect the same price adjustments.


Hsiu Ju Chuang expressed gratitude for its customers’ continued support and pledged to maintain its commitment to quality and service.
