10K Valencia 2026: Records Fall at World’s Fastest Race

Valencia, Spain, once again cemented its status as a global hub for competitive running this weekend, as the 10K Valencia Ibercaja by Kiprun witnessed an unprecedented day of record-breaking performances on January 11th. A staggering 14,134 runners completed the 10K race, with an additional 1,395 participating in the 5K, making this the largest edition of the event to date. The competition saw not only a winning finish for Sweden’s Andreas Almgren and Great Britain’s Eilish McColgan, but a remarkable 23 national records fall across both the men’s and women’s races.

The 10K Valencia Ibercaja by Kiprun witnessed a record-breaking day on Sunday, January 11th, as 14,134 runners crossed the finish line, shattering personal bests and establishing new official records. The event proved to be a showcase of elite running talent, with multiple continental and national marks falling throughout the competition.

Leading the charge, Swedish athlete Andreas Almgren secured victory and simultaneously set a new national record for Sweden and a European record, completing the course in an impressive 26:45. On the women’s side, Great Britain’s Eilish McColgan claimed the top spot, also achieving a European and British record with a time of 30:08.
