TechCrunch Startup Battlefield Announces Five Finalists for 2025

San Francisco, CA – Five startups have been selected as finalists in the 2025 TechCrunch Startup Battlefield, culminating in a competition today for $100,000 in equity-free funding and the coveted Startup Battlefield Cup.

The finalists, chosen from thousands of initial applicants and narrowed down through a rigorous selection process at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference held October 27-29, represent a diverse range of innovations. They include Charter Space, a fintech platform for the aerospace industry; Glīd, focused on streamlining container shipping logistics; MacroCycle, developing a cost-effective method for recycling plastic; Nephrogen, a biotech firm utilizing AI for targeted gene-editing delivery; and Unlisted Homes, a real estate data platform for off-market properties.

Nephrogen founder Demetri Maxim stated his company has created a delivery mechanism that is “100 times more efficient at transporting medicine to the kidney than the ‘vehicles’ currently approved by the FDA,” and plans to participate in a clinical study himself due to his experience with polycystic kidney disease. The increasing focus on innovative biotech solutions like Nephrogen’s highlights a growing trend in personalized medicine. MacroCycle’s approach to plastic recycling could significantly reduce reliance on virgin materials and address the global plastic waste crisis, as detailed by the Environmental Protection Agency.

The finalists will present their pitches one final time at 11:30 a.m. PT today, with the winner announced shortly thereafter. You can find more information about the TechCrunch Disrupt conference and the Startup Battlefield competition on the TechCrunch website.

Officials stated the final presentations will determine which startup will receive the grand prize and gain significant visibility within the tech industry.
