Iga Świątek continued her winning ways after the WTA Finals, joining Poland’s Billie Jean King Cup team in Gorzów Wielkopolski for their qualifying matches. Her presence proved invaluable as Poland secured victories over Romania and New Zealand, advancing in the competition.
Iga Świątek Won’t Let Teammate Forget the Pizza
A lighthearted moment during the Gorzów Wielkopolski event quickly went viral. A video surfaced showing Dawid Celt whispering something to Świątek, immediately followed by a playful glare from the Polish star. It soon became clear that Celt had confessed to eating her slice of pizza.
The incident didn’t end there. The world number two made a mental note of Celt’s snack theft and was waiting for the perfect opportunity to respond.
Świątek Questions Celt About the Missing Slice
Dawid Celt hosted a Q&A session on his podcast, “Break Point,” with co-host Marek Furjan, to celebrate his 40th birthday. The former tennis pro, now a coach and analyst, answered questions from a variety of guests. Iga Świątek even joined the virtual festivities.
Świątek seized the moment to playfully confront Celt about the pilfered pizza from Gorzów Wielkopolski. “Hello coach, happy birthday. My question is: when will the coach return my slice of pizza?” she asked. Celt responded with a laugh.
“Honestly, Iga, as soon as I saw you, the pizza immediately came to mind. It was a spontaneous moment, a great atmosphere, definitely not staged. Someone just happened to catch it on camera and it went viral. I’ll give it back to you as soon as you come to us. I promise to give you a whole pizza for that one slice. But on the other hand, I have to tell you that you’re lucky I didn’t have more time, because it wouldn’t have been just one slice, I probably would have devoured half the pizza, so if you came, there would probably be just an empty box left,” Celt joked.
