Xbox Game Pass subscribers are gaining access to a brutal new title this holiday season: Mortal Kombat 1. Microsoft has added the popular fighting game to its subscription service at no extra cost, alongside several other new additions arriving before the end of the year.
Mortal Kombat 1 is a reboot of the long-running franchise known for its over-the-top “fatalities” – graphically violent finishing moves. Players can battle as iconic characters like Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Johnny Cage, with additional characters like the T-1000 from Terminator and Conan the Barbarian available for separate purchase. The game is available through Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass, expanding the library of titles available to subscribers across multiple platforms.
Monster Train 2
Also joining the Game Pass lineup is Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, a narrative adventure game from Don’t Nod, the studio behind the emotionally driven Life is Strange series. The game centers around a group of friends revisiting the summer of 1995, a season filled with hidden secrets. Like Mortal Kombat 1, it is available for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass.
For strategy enthusiasts, Monster Train 2, a roguelike deck-building game from Shiny Shoe, is now available. Players strategically deploy cards to overcome challenges on a train journey to the heavens. Despite its seemingly simple premise, the game has gained a dedicated following for its challenging and engaging gameplay. Monster Train 2 is also available for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium and PC Game Pass.
Rounding out the new additions is Routine, a first-person science fiction horror game set on a deserted lunar base. Players explore the abandoned facility, piecing together the events that transpired far from Earth, creating a sense of isolation and suspense. This title is available for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
Games Leaving the Service
In addition to the new arrivals, several titles are departing the Game Pass library. Mortal Kombat 11, Still Wakes the Deep, and Wildfrost will be removed on December 15. Carrion and Hell Let Loose will follow on December 31.
