Apple is reportedly preparing to enter the foldable smartphone market with a device significantly different in design from current offerings. Newly leaked renderings, based on detailed CAD data, reveal a potential design for the long-rumored “iPhone Fold” that features an iPad mini-like form factor when unfolded [[1]]. These images provide the clearest look yet at Apple’s approach as they navigate a competitive landscape currently dominated by Samsung and other manufacturers [[2]]. Development is progressing, with around 100 units currently in engineering verification and pre-production [[3]].
Detailed renderings of Apple’s anticipated foldable iPhone have surfaced, showcasing a design that differentiates itself with an iPad mini-like form factor.
New images offer a compelling look at Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone. The renderings, obtained by German publication iPhone-Ticker, are based on detailed CAD data and provide a glimpse into the device’s potential design. The emergence of these images intensifies speculation about Apple’s entry into the growing foldable smartphone market.
Designer Ben Geskin has even created a 3D-printed mock-up based on the leaked information, further visualizing the device’s potential form factor.
The design appears to unfold like a book, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold series, but diverges from mimicking a traditional smartphone’s form factor when closed.
A Wider Form Factor
The device is expected to have a relatively wide profile. When folded, dimensions are projected to be 83.8 mm in width, 120.6 mm in height, and 9.6 mm in thickness. The external display is anticipated to feature a resolution of 2088 x 1422 pixels with a 5.49-inch diagonal.
By expanding the smaller external screen, Apple aims to offer dimensions comparable to a small tablet when the foldable iPhone is opened. According to reports, the device will be slightly smaller than the iPad mini.
The foldable iPhone’s internal display is expected to measure 8.3 inches diagonally with a resolution of 2713 × 1920 pixels. When unfolded, the device would measure 195.4 x 134.8 mm, and its thickness would reduce to 4.8 mm.
Drawing Inspiration from the iPhone Air
Another notable detail is the rear camera module. The renderings show a two-camera setup spanning the entire width of the device. This aesthetic echoes that of the iPhone Air, which consolidates essential components into a single bar to maximize battery space.

The iPhone Air has been viewed by some as a testing ground for the foldable iPhone. By adopting a similar architecture, Apple could create sufficient space for a larger battery, a necessity for a foldable phone with a larger screen.
Positive Reactions
Several observers have already expressed enthusiasm for the purported design of the foldable iPhone. AppleLeaker shared their projections on social media, stating, “External screen: SMS, phone calls, music navigation. Internal screen: everything else.”
Analyst Max Weinbach also commented, “I’m not bothered by this at all. I like it.” Leaker Evan Blass believes that “this is definitely a form factor worth exploring.”
