Following a prosperous track record with revitalized classics and original titles, developer Toys for Bob might potentially be venturing into new territory with the *Spyro the Dragon* franchise. Recent finding of a former employee’s LinkedIn profile listing work on an unconfirmed *Spyro* project has ignited speculation about a potential fourth installment. While a remake of the *reignited Trilogy* appears unlikely given the timeline, industry observers suggest a wholly new *Spyro* title is in progress-possibly under a new publishing agreement with xbox [[1]].

A fourth installment in the Spyro the Dragon series may be in development, according to a recent online discovery. The information surfaced on the LinkedIn profile of a former Toys for Bob developer, who listed work on an unconfirmed Spyro game until March 2024.

Given the timeline, a revival of the Reignited Trilogy – originally released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2018, and later on PC and Nintendo Switch in September 2019 – seems unlikely. Industry observers believe the developer is focused on a brand new title.

Toys for Bob’s Project Portfolio

Toys for Bob has a diverse history within Activision, having developed successful remakes like Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited Trilogy, as well as original titles such as Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time and Crash Team Rumble. The studio also provided support for the Call of Duty franchise, including contributions to Warzone, Modern Warfare II, and Modern Warfare III.

In March 2024, Toys for Bob regained its independence, separating from Activision and, subsequently, Microsoft. However, reports suggest the studio has already entered into an agreement to develop a new game based on an Xbox intellectual property. This has fueled speculation that Spyro 4 could be the project currently underway. The move underscores the ongoing evolution of game development studios and their relationships with major publishers.

Call of Duty, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro are now available via streaming on Ubisoft+ Premium

Rumors of a potential Spyro 4 first emerged five years ago, when concept art related to the purple dragon appeared in the official artbook for Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. For now, these reports remain unconfirmed, and fans await official word on what Toys for Bob is currently developing.
