Latvian author Nora Vilipsone has passed away after a four-month battle with illness, according to family statements. The writer, who previously overcame a significant personal crisis years ago, passed away while receiving care at the “Vecbebri” nursing home, where staff focused on maintaining her spirits until the end.

Family members confirmed that the best medical professionals were consulted throughout her illness, but ultimately the disease proved too strong. The news comes as a loss to Latvia’s literary community, where Vilipsone was a known figure.

Indra Vilipsone stated that her sister’s ashes will be laid to rest in Ikšķile Cemetery in June. The timing was chosen to coincide with the blooming of Nora’s beloved garden, allowing her to “return to her mother.”

A private ceremony was held for the author, and the family has finalized arrangements for her final resting place.

More details can be found in the January 13th issue of “Privātā Dzīve” magazine!
