Jakarta – IndonesiaS newly implemented Coretax tax governance system is facing early scrutiny, prompting a direct response from Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi sadewa. Following complaints from state-backed sovereign wealth fund Danantara regarding the system’s functionality, Sadewa personally visited the fund’s offices Thursday to assess the issues firsthand. The visit, which occurred as Danantara’s chief Investment Officer was traveling abroad, underscores the government’s commitment to addressing concerns surrounding the rollout of the ambitious tax platform, designed to modernize Indonesia’s revenue collection.
Jakarta –
Indonesia’s Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa visited the offices of Danantara on Thursday, January 15, 2026, to investigate complaints about the country’s new Coretax system. The visit came after Danantara’s Chief Investment Officer, Pandu Sjahrir, voiced concerns about the system’s functionality.
“Yesterday, Danantara complained that Coretax wasn’t working,” Sadewa said in a video posted to his Instagram account, @menkeuri. “I wanted to see if that was true, or if the people at Danantara simply couldn’t input the data.”
Sadewa arrived at Danantara accompanied by a team of tax IT specialists and local tax office personnel. He confirmed that Sjahrir had strongly criticized the Coretax system.

However, Sadewa discovered that Sjahrir was out of the country during his visit.
“I wanted to see how ridiculous this was, Coretax as it stands. (Danantara) complained to me extensively. But he, Mr. Pandu, had already left the country when I arrived,” Sadewa added.
Despite Sjahrir’s absence, Sadewa stated that the issues raised by Danantara had been addressed. He acknowledged that some minor problems remained, but insisted they wouldn’t significantly impact the system’s performance.
“We’ll make some minor software adjustments, which should be completed in a week or two. But these are relatively minor issues and won’t stop the system from working or prevent taxpayers from doing their jobs,” Sadewa explained.
The Finance Minister believes the Coretax system is progressing positively, despite ongoing imperfections. “I think the Coretax system is moving in a better direction, although there are still shortcomings, the trend is continuously improving,” Sadewa said.
