France’s top slalom skiers encountered a challenging day on the slopes, as both Paco Rassat and Clément Noël struggled at Sunday’s World Cup event in adelboden, Switzerland. Less than a week after Rassat’s victory in the Adelboden slalom [[3]], the pair faced setbacks in their pursuit of podium finishes. The results underscore the unpredictable nature of alpine competition, were even seasoned veterans like Noël and rising stars such as Rassat can face unexpected challenges.
Rassat Frustrated After DNF, Noël Struggles in Slalom Run
Clément Noël (9th): “There was a big mistake in the first run. There were some decent sections, but overall it was bad. I need to review the second run, but I was bouncing all over the place. I wasn’t able to get my skis down properly, and I tweaked my back a bit before the final gate, catching it awkwardly. After that, I just skied poorly. It wasn’t good skiing, and we’ll try to improve for next time, but it’s hard to pinpoint exactly what went wrong right now.”
Paco Rassat (DNF): “I was fighting it in the first run, struggling to get my skis to hold. In the second, I felt good on the snow, but then I made a mistake. It’s frustrating, but that’s part of slalom racing. We have two more good slalom events to finish out January, and now we need to quickly move on.”
Both French skiers faced challenges during the slalom competition, with Rassat failing to finish and Noël placing ninth. The results highlight the demanding nature of the discipline and the fine margins separating success from disappointment. The pair will look to rebound in upcoming races as the slalom season continues.
