Peruvian singer Mirella Paz has announced her departure from the popular cumbia group Son Tentación, citing a lack of professional consideration from the orchestra’s management. Paz, who joined Son Tentación in 2018, revealed the split was not amicable and comes amidst a growing trend of latin artists seeking greater autonomy over their careers. The singer detailed her frustrations in a public statement released today, signaling a shift toward independent projects.
Mirella Paz has officially parted ways with Son Tentación, and the singer insists it wasn’t a mutual decision. Paz revealed in a statement that she felt sidelined by the orchestra’s management, ultimately leading to her departure.
According to Paz, she was left in a state of indefinite limbo, a frustrating position for any artist. The move comes as the Latin music scene continues to see artists assert greater control over their careers.
“I wish to inform the public, followers, colleagues and media that as of today, I am no longer part of the orchestra Son Tentación. The decision has been made after personal and professional evaluation. The management of the group has decided to keep me in a condition of indefinite waiting, a situation that I do not accept,” Paz wrote.
“Consequently, I hereby conclude all labor, artistic and commercial relationships with the orchestra. Thanking you for the time shared. I withdraw with gratitude for the opportunities received,” she added.
Paz made it clear she isn’t leaving defeated, but rather determined to pursue new opportunities. She’s looking ahead to future projects and challenges, signaling a new chapter in her career.
“From now on, I will continue to focus on new projects and artistic challenges that I am sure will contribute to my musical and personal growth. I thank all the people who have accompanied my journey so far and those who will continue to support this new stage,” she concluded.
