Indonesia will face Iran in the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship Final, and Iran’s head coach, Vahid Shamsaee, isn’t underestimating the challenge.
The Indonesian Futsal National Team advanced to the final after a thrilling 5-3 victory over Japan in the semifinals. Iran secured their spot with a 4-2 win against Iraq.

The championship match is scheduled for Saturday, February 7th, at 7:00 PM local time (19:00 WIB) at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta. This marks a historic moment for the Indonesian Futsal National Team, who are aiming to capture their first-ever title.
Iran enters the final with an impressive record, having won the AFC Futsal Championship a remarkable 13 times, establishing themselves as the dominant force in the competition. Despite their pedigree, Iran’s coach, Vahid Shamsaee, is taking a respectful approach to the matchup.
“The number of trophies and championships that the Iranian Futsal National Team has is very different compared to other countries. We have a gap with the other teams,” Shamsaee explained during a press conference on Friday, February 6th.
“But this is a match. Tomorrow is a new match, a new day, and a new trophy. We greatly respect the Indonesian coach, but tomorrow we will focus on playing fair,” he added.
This will be Iran’s 16th appearance in the final, having only failed to lift the trophy on two occasions. Historically, Indonesia has struggled against Iran, losing all five of their previous encounters.
