2026 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony: Latvia’s Flag Bearers Revealed

The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo will draw to a close with a ceremony held in the arena of the ancient Roman amphitheater in Verona. Latvia will be represented by distance skier Patrīcija Eiduka and short track speed skater Roberts Krūzbergs as flag bearers during the closing ceremony.

Verona, Italy will host the closing ceremony for the 2026 Winter Olympics, bringing an end to the games held in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. Latvia’s delegation will be led into the arena by Patrīcija Eiduka, a standout in distance skiing, and Roberts Krūzbergs, who made history on the short track.

Krūzbergs secured Latvia’s first-ever Olympic medal in short track speed skating, winning a bronze in the 1500m event. Eiduka achieved the best result in Latvian history in distance skiing, finishing 11th in the 50km classic race and 15th in the 10km free style race.

Latvia sent its largest-ever delegation to these Winter Olympics – 68 athletes competing in 9 sports and 28 disciplines, showcasing the nation’s growing presence on the international stage. The Latvian team finished the games with two Olympic medals, and several impressive performances across multiple sports. Elīna Ieva Bota took silver in luge, while Kristers Aparjods finished fourth in the men’s event. The doubles luge team of Bogdanova/Robežniece and Bots/Plūme finished fourth and fifth respectively, and the Latvian luge team finished fourth in the team relay.

The closing ceremony is scheduled to begin at 9:30 PM local time (21:30 CET) on Sunday, February 22nd, and will be broadcast live on LTV7.
