Manaus, Brazil – Angela Bulbol, a former government official in the state of Amazonas, has died after being struck by a car on February 20, 2026. The incident occurred within the Ephygênio Salles condominium in the Adrianópolis neighborhood of Manaus, according to reports.

Bulbol, who previously served as the Secretary of Administration and Management of Amazonas from 2017 to 2018, was critically injured when she was hit while exercising. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

Authorities have identified Mônica Melo, the former president of the Amazonas State Department of Transit (Detran-AM), as the driver of the vehicle involved in the collision. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.

Initial reports indicated Bulbol was in a critical condition and fighting for her life. A family statement released on February 21, 2026, requested prayers and respect during this difficult time, noting she was “alive and luta[ing] to superar a momento delicado.” However, her condition deteriorated, and her death was confirmed by family members on February 22, 2026.

Bulbol too held the position of Pro-rector of Administration and Finance at the Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam). In November 2025, she published her autobiography, “Autobiografia Criativa,” which included her memories and musical influences.

The family has announced plans to pursue legal action against Melo, according to BNC Amazonas. The case highlights the potential for legal repercussions following the tragic incident.

The Prefeitura de Manaus issued a note of condolence following Bulbol’s death.
