US and Israel attack building of assembly that was to choose Jamenei’s successor
The Israeli military attacked the building in the Iranian city of Qom belonging to the Assembly of Experts, the body of clerics responsible for selecting the successor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who died Saturday in an attack by Israel and the United States.
Sources indicated that the clerics were not meeting in the building at the time of the strike.
“The building of the Assembly of Experts in Qom was attacked a few minutes ago,” reported Tasnim, a news agency affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
The agency added that the building was hit by missiles this afternoon, following overnight airstrikes by US and Israeli fighter jets targeting the Assembly’s headquarters in Tehran. (efe, afp)

“I clearly felt that eliminating the nuclear capability, neutralizing the ballistic missile capability and the disappearance of Ali Jamenei is something that many of my colleagues in NATO applaud,” he said. (afp/dpa)
