Massive Increase:
Ticket prices to see Haaland and Ødegaard at Ullevaal have increased by 122 percent. These tickets will go first.
Dreaming of following the Norwegian national football team when they return home from the World Cup in the USA?
If so, you should prepare for a costly experience. At least if you plan to watch the games at Ullevaal from a seat among the audience.
Following Erling Braut Haaland, Martin Ødegaard and the team of Ståle Solbakken at Ullevaal Stadium has become an expensive project.
Fewer Games – Higher Prices
Figures for season tickets to follow the World Cup-qualified national team in the official home games this year show a price development that could craft the cardboard coffee cup from the stadium kiosk acquire stuck in your throat.
Over the past four years, the price per game for a supporter has more than doubled. At the same time, the audience has gotten fewer games for their money.
In 2023, 2024 and 2025, one season ticket gave access to four home games. This year, the number has been reduced to three. Yet the price is higher than ever.
Season ticket sales for the home games are in full swing. And previous season ticket holders have just over a week to secure their place. After that, it will be released to the open market.
Outrageous Prices
The prices for tickets and season tickets vary, based on where you desire to sit in the national arena.
Here’s an example of the outrageous price increase:
In 2023, a season ticket in the upper long side cost 1,650 kroner. That equated to 413 kroner per game.
Already last year, the price had increased, and since then, the development has accelerated.
The really big change comes in 2026. Now, a supporter has to pay 2,750 kroner for the same season ticket – while the number of home games has been reduced to three.
The result is a game price of 917 kroner. A family of four has to pay 11,000 kroner for the season tickets.
That’s an increase of 122 percent per game in four years. Or nearly 90 percent just from last year.
Understands the Frustration
Sebastian Husvik is the leader of the supporter group “Oljeberget,” which likes to create atmosphere before, during and after national team matches. He says this about what many experience as a price shock:
– I understand that some people think it has become a frustrating price level. But that’s how the market works. I think many still want to be involved in filling up Ullevaal. For us at Oljeberget, it’s very nice that it’s a full stadium. And I expect that to be the case this fall as well, says Husvik to DinSide.
The Experience
The Norwegian Football Federation explains the huge price increase as follows:
– The men’s national team is one of the country’s most attractive entertainment products, with several of the world’s biggest football profiles. This also reflects the development in prices in recent years, says communications manager Yngve Haavik at the Norwegian Football Federation, to DinSide
– Compared to international cultural and sporting events, ticket prices at Ullevaal are still competitive, while we understand that the price level can be experienced differently, Haavik continues.
Prices Vary
There are a large number of different prices and seats to choose from at the national arena for football.
Here’s an example of the outrageous price increase:
In 2023, a season ticket in the upper long side cost 1,650 kroner. That equated to 413 kroner per game.
| Year | Price per season ticket | Number of games | Price per game |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 1,650 kr | 4 | 413 kr |
| 2024 | 1,790 kr | 4 | 448 kr |
| 2025 | 2,050 kr | 4 | 513 kr |
| 2026 | 2,750 kr | 3 | 917 kr |
Fewer Games – Higher Price
Last year, the national team played World Cup qualifying. This year, it’s the UEFA Nations League. The three Norwegian home games will be played this fall, after the summer championship. Norway’s opponents in the top division are Denmark, Portugal and Wales.
Yngve Haavik explains why there are only three games in this year’s season ticket:
– In the past, qualification consisted of four games, while this year there are three games in the Nations League against very attractive opponents at Group A level. We did not want to include friendly matches, as we are experiencing very high interest and many more people wanting tickets for the national team game at Ullevaal than before.
He concludes:
– The fact is that the most expensive tickets are the first to be sold out, while we are keen to have cheaper ticket categories, especially with regard to families.
